Spandau Arms Episode
[00:00:00] Y'all will say I'm on the, I'm on the website and there's a picture here of four, uh, paper targets, uh, turkey targets that somebody has posted on the website and it is absolutely amazing to me how many shots are in the kill zone On these, on these papers. I mean, I mean that's some of the best groups I've ever seen of shotguns.
I don't know what distance they were shot or anything like that, but still a lot of pellets in the shot in the kill zone. Yeah, that, that, that was actually my personal gun at at 40 yards. Oh wow. With are bull choke tube and that long boots
(commercial) red bone. Wise Eye has just gotten better with these new cameras that they come out with. How could it get better? Well, they got the new Mini and they've got the new DC 2. WiseEye Technologies presents.
Welcome to American Roots Outdoors. It is a sunny day here in the Ozarks. We're supposed to have 80 degrees today, and I gotta tell you, Redbone, I went fishing yesterday with my good friend, Kerry Robbins, over on the Bull Shows, and we caught 12 big old crappie and 18 big white bass. I went back over there this morning to replenish some turkey calls at Miller's store, uh, fast stop right there in Tecumseh.
And I stopped this morning to listen to turkeys gobble, and I heard my first turkeys gobble for 20 25. No kidding! Yep, I heard two gobble. [00:02:00] They didn't gobble very much, though. Three or four times, uh, right off the limb, they shut up. So, I'm still concerned about our turkey numbers, though, here in the Ozarks.
Yeah, well, I think most people are. And, uh, you know, we've had, you know, a couple of years of good hatches, but, uh, seems like the predators are, are, and we talk about this a lot, the predators are offsetting the good hatch. I think so. And, uh, you know, we didn't have that wet of spring last year, but, uh, I think the predators are our biggest nemesis.
I really do. And, uh, we got to do something about it. I've seen that MDC has made a post wanting to get input from people about resident hunters and non resident hunters coming into Missouri. And they're having an open panel forum on that, and we'll talk about that later. But, uh, we got a great show lined up.
We're going to educate everybody on SDS imports. They've got a new turkey gun out called [00:03:00] the Spandau shotgun, Spandau Arms. And I must tell you, I am impressed with this shotgun. It has, it's a nursery driven, semi automatic shotgun. You can get it in a 24 inch barrel, two and three quarter inch, and three inch.
This gun is a haymaker. And I have my hands on two of them. Yep. And they donated one. for a cancer foundation for my niece, Carol, and she got breast cancer and we're going to give one of these guns away and also a Henry 22 golden boy rifle and you can buy tickets from my niece, Lori Porter, and my great nephew, Dylan Watson.
They're selling two 52 deck of cards at 100 a card and we're going to have the fundraiser sometime in May or June, uh, to, to announce the winners of that. But, uh, from going further. Uh, I gotta tell you, I, I heard something today. Where Kansas City hardback [00:04:00] Moore was the offensive lineman for 30 million dollars for three years.
Did you hear about that? Yeah, I saw a little something about that yesterday, and yeah, uh, Deet, is it, what's his name? Uh, I'm trying to remember off the top of my head, but yeah, he's from San Francisco. He learned Moore. Yeah, he's from San Francisco. He's a nine time All Pro, so, uh, it was, it was a pretty good investment.
You know, we got to protect Patrick Mahomes, and we didn't last year. Uh, so they're trying to rebuild that offensive line, and that's a good guy to build around. I would agree. And for the longest time, I hate to just, you know, nitpick, but man, I always thought Taylor the last two years hadn't been doing his job.
He backs up and he gets pushed into the bones every play. Moving on, switching gears, what about high school basketball? Well, Bobcats, the boys are still in it. Yeah, well, we're recording on Tuesday, folks, so keep this in mind. Uh, they play on Wednesday in the state semifinals and then the championship round or third place, whichever they [00:05:00] play for on Thursday.
So as people hear this on Saturday, the state tournament is over for classes one through three. But yeah, Thayer Bobcats and the Puxico Indians are both still alive. Uh, Puxico, of course, in our listening area. Uh, so good luck to them both. And again, as you hear this on Saturday, uh, the games will be over with.
But yeah, Thayer Bobcats, yeah, we'll see how they perform. Four straight years going to the Show Me Showdown. Yeah, they finished third the last three years. And see if they can make an improvement on that this year. Well, that's making a big, huge statement for our area and congratulations to the third bobcats and I wish them the best of luck I'd love to see them win the state championship.
Oh, man, that would be fantastic Yes Yeah, again, I want to say Harrington, I think Harrington is one of the best Basketball players that I've seen in our conference in our area for some time Uh, he's quite the ballplayer and, uh, uh, [00:06:00] the other boy, the point guard, Pitts. Yeah, Easton Pitts. Yeah. Easton Pitts.
Very impressive, man. Another excellent ballplayer. One of the best in the country that I've seen in a long time. I just want to give a big shout out to them. I also want to give a big shout out. to Miller's General Store, Roy's General Store, over in Dora and Miller's at Tecumseh, Monty's Outdoors, Hirsch Farm and Feed, and Legacy Farm and Lumber at Van Buren.
They're going to be carrying all my culls, and we're stocking everybody right now with turkey culls. Turkey season is going to be up here almost within a month or so. You season in about three weeks, in a few days, and the turkeys are starting to gobble, fish are starting to bite. People need to be going to the lake, man.
Um, man, that was so much fun yesterday fishing with Terry Robbins. Yeah, well, anytime you get in and catch a bunch of crappie, it's always good time. I mean, that's just non stop action right there. You know, Redbone, some of these crappie we caught was 15, 16 [00:07:00] inches long. Wow. They were huge. Yeah, well, it makes good eating, too, Alex.
Yeah, and we caught some whites, too. We had 18 whites and 12 keeper big crappie. We've done it in about three and a half hours. Wow. That's a good day on the lake. Yes, it was. On both shows is where we went. But, uh, again, we've got a great show lined up for everybody. And our special guest is Mr. Jared Gamez.
He is a liaison spokesperson. He also has a podcast. He is a shotgun expert. He's going to educate us on STS imports and Spandau shotguns. This is going to be a great show. And if you're looking for a great buy On a turkey gun, you're looking for a new one, you love semi automatics, you gotta check out this new S2 by Spandau Arms.
It's gonna be a very informative show, and you can buy this gun for 4. 99 in camo, black matte for 3. 99 at dealers near you. It's gonna be a great show, Redbone. Yeah, I think so. And I've got the [00:08:00] Spandau Arms web page pulled up right now. They've got pictures of all their guns, good looking guns. And you know, you brought the one of the ones that you have your hands on, uh, to the studio the other day and got a chance to hold it.
Well, the gun is balanced just right. It's light. And I think people are going to love these things. We got Jared calling in now. We're breaking. We come back more with American Roots Outdoors. Don't go away. We'll be right back with more right after this. This is Brenda Valentine, and you're listening to American Roots Outdoors with Alex Rutledge and Friends.

(music ends) Legacy Farmland Specialists presents, welcome back to American Roots Outdoors segment two of our show. Again, we're going to educate everybody on Spandau Arms, SDS Imports, and the spokesperson for Spandau Arms is my buddy, Jerry Gamis. Welcome to the show, Jerry. Hey guys, thanks for having me. It's um, you know, it's a privilege to be here.
I'm amongst legends in the outdoor world. Oh man, we don't look at it that way. We're [00:10:00] amongst friends. I want to say this. I want to educate everybody on SDS Imports. Let's talk about the roots of SDS Imports. Tell us about how they were founded, what you're creative, where they're located. Fill us in on that.
Well, so years ago, SDS imports kind of came about, um, after the opportunity to bring in, uh, you know, certain shotguns that were, were snapped up by bigger companies. And, you know, they continued on because they just kind of developed and established a really good rapport with manufacturers. And we'll, we'll use Turkey as an example today because that's where a bulk of our shotguns are manufactured for us.
In 2022, you know, they really started expanding their lineup and, you know, kind of tailoring products that we imported. To be more palatable to the U S market. So we shifted away from just kind of going overseas and buying a product where instead we sent our engineers and our product designers from Knoxville to go spend time in Turkey.
So we always [00:11:00] have us personnel over there, you know, putting in hours, helping the manufacturers that we utilize to make these products exactly what us shooters need. And that's where we kind of changed to SDS arms late last year, because we stopped just kind of importing guns. To where we were just designing them and just having them manufactured by our partners over in Turkey and it's, it's kind of come full circle with, you know, additions to our brand lineups, such as TSOC, Tokarev, Military Armament Corporation, English Manufacturing.
And I think as we're now kind of really getting to spend time out in the field with U. S. Hunters, it's really evident with Spandau Arms. That's awesome. So, so, you come aboard with this company. How many years you been with them? And, and, and explain to our listeners what your job duties are and your title.
Um, you know, I've known the owners of this company since about 2010 and I've worked with them in some of their previous endeavors [00:12:00] and in 2021, I felt like they kind of, you know, looked at a fire extinguisher on the wall. Like, hey, we need some help with our, our social media and our digital side of the house.
So they broke that piece of glass and said, Hey, Jared, we could use your help for, Okay. You know, a couple months and you know, I won't say unfortunately in a bad way, but you know, here we are in 2025, I'm still with the company and we're, we're growing by leaps and bounds every year. It's been, it's been really fun to kind of take, you know, some, a company that was at the time as yes, imports, it was one brand.
And then now we're FDS arms and we, we're, I don't know, a conglomerate, I'm going to say conglomerate today. I don't get to use that word at all. Oh, five brands. Yeah, Jared, it's got to be very satisfying, uh, from a personal standpoint and from a business standpoint, both to see a company that's growing like Spandau Arms is growing.
I mean, I'm on the website right now looking at, and man, these good looking shotguns, number one, uh, but, uh, the company is just growing by leaps and [00:13:00] bounds. In you know, um, I always make jokes at trade shows where like I'll say I'll take all the credit for that You know when people say cool stuff about the company, but we have a phenomenal team from You know all the way from our warehouse people that get the guns out to dealers and distributors The product managers that are designing these guns.
They're passionate shooters. Jeff jackson He's a two time collegiate champion and you know trap and skeet adam finger who handles more of our tactical side of the shotguns That guy's at the range putting Thousands of rounds through, you know, prototypes and even production guns every week. And then our sales team that is just out there, you know, doing the business part that we leave the wheel in and be on, so to speak.
So I think everyone is a company is super proud of it. Me, you know, being the social media and the digital marketing guy, I mean, Alex can tell you it shows. I will, I will talk to anyone that comes up to me, I will shake their hand. And if I don't have a good joke, I'm at least going to come up [00:14:00] with a joke, because it is so funny.
Yeah. You talk about jokes, you got me. Yeah. So, Jared, tell everybody about Jared Gamez. Where is Jared born and raised? And how did you get to this position? You kind of let into a little bit of it. Uh, talk about your roots. You know, um, I started off, um, you know, just like any kid in Indiana, you know, I didn't really grow up in a gun family, but I always liked hunting.
I don't know why. You'd wake up and, you know, you'd wake up on Saturday morning and you'd go through the whole gamut. You know, even from fishing. Like Bill Vance, Roland Martin, Bill Jordan, you know, all the hunting shows that were up on Saturday morning and Sunday morning on, you know, it wasn't country music television back then.
I can't remember. CLG. Yeah. DNM. DNM. Yeah. Yeah. So I. One of those kids that, you know, grew up that way and, you know, I still watch Bill Dance every time I see him pop up on YouTube and, and I still like seeing [00:15:00] some of the old guy, older fellows out there that, that kind of got me into it, still doing the same thing.
Um, you know, I joined the army, you know, right out of high school and when I got out of the army, I really, you know, I was like, what am I going to do? And I walked into a gun shop and I started my, my journey there just working behind the counter. I did gun shows. And that was kind of, I think when social media was just kind of, you know, really kind of started to get big and this was like, you know, 2010, 2011.
And I just kind of had a knack it, you know, the whole digital side of things, you know, there's, there's guys like Alex that, you know, can have a great conversation probably with the fax machine, but he looks at his cell phone and, you know, um, but you know, the company's grown, I've worked for a couple of silencer manufacturers and I've kind of bounced around in the industry.
You know, learning what I can from different aspects of it. I'm a big outdoorsman. I'm a big suppressor guy. Um, but working with, you know, SDS arms and these lineups, it's given me [00:16:00] an opportunity to kind of get in some other segments. And with Spandau, I wasn't a big trap and ski guy, but Man, that's a huge sport, uh, 6, 000 kids attend these, like, national championships, so it's been fun to just keep going and learning new things and, and finding new ways to enjoy firearms.
That's outstanding, and Alex, we do need to go to a break here, and when we come back, I would like to, uh, ask about Spandau Armed and their support of the youth hunting sport, because I think that's very important as the company moves forward. You're listening to America Roots Outdoors with Alex Rutledge and friends.
We'll be back in just a moment. Hey guys, this is the Macklemore Boys here with Masterbuilt, you're listening to our buddy Alex Rutledge, with the American Roots Outdoors, right now. Let's go! Gimme five, baby!
(music) And my old pair of hunting boots Passed on down planted deep in the ground Around your heart So you never gotta [00:17:00] worry
(commercial) (music ends) Well Alex, I know it's about food plot planting time. What are you going to plant this year? Okay, in the spring I like to plant different things and also in the fall, but my go to all the time is the Eagle Seed Smorgasbord because it has a variety of blends. You know, when I was a kid, and even as an adult, I loved to go to a smorgasbord.
I bet it's the same for deer. It is. They have a variety to choose from. Instead of eating one thing all the time, they got a variety. Just like you walking into a restaurant. Get Smorgasbord today and you'll hold more deer and turkey. How can I go about getting that Smorgasbord? Go to a dealer near you or go to www.

Hornady Ammunition presents, Welcome to American Roots Outdoors again. We're learning about SDS Imports, Spandau Arms, a new shotgun that's taking the industry by storm. We got the liaison media expert, Jared Gamass, with us and he's [00:18:00] talking about his American roots, talking about SDS Imports. Tell us more about SDS and SPAN now and what they do for the outdoor industry, especially our youth.
Then we're gonna get into the gist of the shotgun. Yeah. Um, you know, as, as SDS evolved and, and, and I, I hate to correct you, Alex, but we, SDS, we've, we've, we've rebranded that, that company, but. You know, we, we spent kind of, you know, always trying to connect with our customers and, you know, when Spandau came online, we, we just found this golden opportunity because there are great organizations like USA Clay Target, SCTP, you know, all of these youth organizations or H that are, that are.
have great programs to get kids out on the range into the shooting sports in such young age. And the shooting sports are, I think, the safest high school, you know, athletics that is in the country. You know, you don't get football injuries and things like that [00:19:00] being on the shotgun range. So I think it's Super neat with that.
Um, but we, we just, we doubled down on it. We, we, we know, you know, in my kid, you know, he's a senior in high school and his shot his entire high school career. We just know that the youth of the future of the sport. So ensuring that they have access to. You know, firearms that are safe, that are dependable, that are going to serve them well through their youth careers, into their collegiate, maybe even, you know, when they're taking their kids hunting years down the road is super important.
And we've partnered with, you know, just the who's who of the industry. That's really cool. And I thank you again. You know, and the kids gotta be loving the Spandau firearms because, I mean, the rifles are so light. I know we want to get into all that as the show goes on, but Alex, I think these are a perfect gun for the youngsters.
Yes, it is. And I think we got to commend SDS Arms for what they're doing for the future of our gun owner rights. Absolutely. Especially educating our kids. And I like the [00:20:00] fact that you pointed out a safe firearm. When you think of firearms, you, you, you need to think of safety for sure, and I'm glad that you stressed that.
Let's now change gears and, and talk about the new S two and what gun could you compare the S two to? You know, I think, you know, the S two is our, you know, it's our, it's our hunting shotgun. It actually kind of started life as a, as a three gun model on one of our other brands, but you know, hunting shotgun kind of always had the same feature set for so long.
And we've always kind of griped about, you know, the charging handles being a little too small or, you know, the gun shooting, you know, over the barrel because of vent rib. And you know, what worked really good on, you know, for some guns on like the range Doesn't always equate to the field, but our tactical gun from Mac, we put this gorgeous loading gain on it.
Oversized charging handle. And we had one with a 20 inch barrel and, you know, me being a turkey hunter, I took that gun and I'm like, [00:21:00] this would be a great turkey gun. And so we started like talking to other hunters, like, what would you guys want in, in a newer hunting gun that, you know, we could do for a great price point, but then the features and those features that we put on there, guys just were like, why has no one done this before?
Everyone tries to put like that real traditional loading gate. You gotta have the rounds very squared up to get him in the lifter to get him into the tube. You know, the charging handles are always kind of like a little bit on the smaller side. And yeah, you could send your gun out to someone and have your loading gate cut open for a couple hundred bucks.
You know, go buy a new charging handle on some other feature like that. So we're just like Let's put this all in one package and see how onto it. And I think, I think the response has been pretty, pretty, pretty good. Yes, it has. You could tell by the turnout of people coming to the booth at the NWTF . And I know of two or three guys that's already ordered SDS and the Spandau Arms shotguns right now from my area, from me just talking to them.
And I think [00:22:00] we've got caught on to something here that's going to really light the industry up, so to say. on shotgun sales, especially for the turkey hunters and squirrel hunters, rabbit hunters, etc. Uh, let's get into the deep side. Uh, we got a few minutes left here in this, this segment. Uh, talk about the weight of the ST, S2 Spandau shotgun and the length of the barrels.
Yeah, so, you know, the S2, you know, like I said, started from a, a three gun model, but when we got out hunting, we settled on both a 24 inch version. And a 28 inch version because I think that's going to cover those guys that are chasing those gobblers. And then also, you know, those weirdos that like to go stand in swamps and go after ducks.
And, you know, it's light up just over 6 pounds. So even the guys that are walking through the plains and the grasses in South Dakota, it's a nice, lightweight, nimble shotgun. I think we hit both barrel lengths right on the head with it. The stock is adjustable for [00:23:00] cast and length of pull. It's compatible with a lot of components that other inertia shotguns on the market use.
Um, a 28 inch barrel or even 21, it uses Benelli mobile choke tubes, so, you know, we had the guys at Indian Creek over at the booth at NWTF, like, oh, we got to get one of our choke tubes in this gun. Um, there's a lot of features, and I think EMSRP, when we tell people You know, if you want it, you know, any popular hydro dip camo pattern, they retail for 4.
99. If you want it in that, in that black, you know, anodized finish with black polymer furniture, you're going to get those for right at 3. 99. And then we're also going to be offering some different finishes and configurations as the year rolls on. Yeah, and I think we're going to come out in June if I'm not, if I'm at liberty to say, you're coming out with a 20 gauge and also a 28 gauge.
Am I correct? The 20 gauges are already in the works. You know, we're probably maybe a month or two of those out. That will be the first gun that [00:24:00] we offer with wood furniture, because a lot of people that see our wood are just blown away about how nice it is. 28 gauges are still in the planning stages, so that's something we might revisit, you know, closer to dove season.
I won't say it's a confirmed guess, but it's definitely not a hard no. Yeah, I know we use it at the show, and I know Redbone's itching to say something here or ask a question. Uh, my buddy Craig Stoker, uh, he's interested in buying three of the 20 gauges as soon as you get them made. So, the 20 gauge is a hot ticket right now of the Turkey Hunter.
One, because it's light, and two, with these new heavy shot loads like Apex Turkey Loads, and Foxtrot ammo, other ammos, uh, Winchester heavy shot, it's trenched in steel. Man, no kill charges after 50 yards. Yeah, so Alex, and, and, uh, so what I want to ask you is about the durability. Because that's important to hunters, and I know the price points are, [00:25:00] you know, 399.
99, 499. 99, but for a lot of folks, that's still a lot of money, so what about the durability of these shotguns? You know, we, the way we test them, I'd like to say that the gun is more durable than my shoulder if I had to be, you know. I even think Adam who does a lot of the prototyping and test firing would agree the same thing.
I think you're going to buckle before the shotgun does. And there's always that caveat because, you know, we're hunters, we're not the most friendly to our firearms. I talked to a guy over the weekend who regularly uses the shotgun as a boat or when he's out, you know, chasing the duck. But they're manufactured from high quality materials.
We put on great finishes. They are covered by a one year warranty, and then we offer a lifetime service plan. So, as long as you lubricate your gun properly, you're feeding it high quality ammunition, you're not, you know, digging through a coffee can of shells you found in the back of a John Boe, you know, I think the guns are going to be just fine for everyone.
We've [00:26:00] tested them. I just patterned mine for turkey season last weekend, and You know, I've pulled mine straight out of the box, and I should have lubricated it a little bit more than I did, but for me, it's like, hey, I want to see what these guns are capable of, and thus far, we're getting really good performance, the, the sport shooters, and even on the tactical side of things that utilize the same action, we've had amazing results with them.
Yeah, what is your favorite lubricant to lubricate those guns with? Um, right now, um, I've been using some of the products from Real Avid, they, they sent over some of the products for us to check out. Um, I'm always trying new oils because, you know, me working for a company, we always got to kind of go back to things, um, but the real avid CLPs, uh, are cleaning the guns up really good and they're, they're keeping the guns running really nicely.
Um, I think there's more good lubricants on the market today than there are bad ones, but just, you know, when you get your guns, take all that packing lubricant off, pick the oil that's your choice, you know, and lubricate properly. And if you're in and out of the field, you know, take care of your gun and it'll take care of you.[00:27:00]
Well, I tell you a good one out there and then we're going to go to a break, but I'm using it and you talk about not gunking up and jamming up or anything and collecting gunk is 80 below 80 below. I use my fishing reels and all my guns. You got to check it out. It's a great product. We're going to go to a break.
We're talking with Jared Gamez with Spandau Arms. Don't go away, we'll be right back with more, right after this. Hey guys, Bradley Roy, Major League Fish and Angler. You're listening to American Roots Outdoors, right here, right now.

Eagle Seed and Rite Optics presents, Welcome Back to American Roots Outdoors, Segment 4 of our show. And what a great show we've had so far with Jared Redbone. Uh, yeah, we have. We learned a lot about the, uh, Spandau shotguns and, uh, you know, durability and, and, you know, price points, which are just unbelievable, uh, when you talk about price points.
So, uh, I encourage people, you know, just do a search on your Google for Spandau. And a matter of fact, I had to do a search for [00:29:00] Spandau arms, went to the website and check them out. Yeah, Spandau Arms is the new turkey gun of the industry, and everybody's just going crazy over it because, uh, one, the durability, two, the light weight of the gun, and number three, the cost of the gun, and, uh, it's a nursery driven shotgun, and I'm excited to, to tune mine in, and we're going to talk about tuning that shotgun in, and what we mean by tuning in that shotgun is matching the right shot with the right choke tube, and with that being said, Judd, what do you suggest To our listeners, if they buy a Spandau shotgun, the S2, what choke tube should they look at?
What shot size? What type of ammunition do you suggest to them to try? I'm probably the worst person to ask this because I'm a very, I'm a very budget centric hunter myself. You know, there are guys, and they'll buy that ammunition from Apex and others. Me, when I got mine, I went to my local gun, just like, you know, a [00:30:00] normal human being would, just because I work in the gun industry.
Everyone thinks we get like, oh, we get like Um, but I patterned my personal gun with Federal Grand Slam No. 4 and Long Beard XR No. 4. Um, and I used to Carlson's Long Beard XR Choke Tube. And I'm not going to hesitate to take a shot at a bird at about 45 to 50 yards. There are guys that, you know, like, love the TSS loads, um, where I, where I live at, I don't get to see them on the show as much as I, I would like to, um, but I have a choke tube from Indian Creek that I'm going to take out this weekend and try that one out as well.
It's, I almost hate to make a recommendation because it doesn't matter, I mean, turkey hunters and dove hunters and bird hunters, we all, we find that thing that just clicks for us, you know, that, that magic, um, I just tell guys, get out there and try a little bit of everything. You know, if your buddy's got one or two extra rounds, borrow one and just put it on paper real quick and you'll find what works not only for the gun, but also what works for you.[00:31:00]
Great response. Redbone. Yeah. And, uh, y'all will say, I'm on the, I'm on the website and there's a picture here of four. Uh, paper targets, uh, turkey targets that somebody has posted on the website, and it is absolutely amazing to me how many shots are in the kill zone on these, on these papers. I mean, I mean, that's some of the best groups I've ever seen of shotguns.
I don't know what distance they were shot or anything like that, but still a lot of pellets in the shot, in the kill zone. Yeah, that, that, that was actually my personal gun at, at 40 yards. Oh wow. Pull Chimp Tube and that long Beard XR from Carlson. Well, yeah, that, I mean just, just looking at the pictures, I'm thinking, okay, these guns are everything we've been talking about.
I'm telling you guys, this is gonna be the Turkey gun of the year. Uh, price point, durability, uh, the lightweight, every Turkey gun is gonna want spend our [00:32:00] shotgun. I know I'm excited about mine. And again, I wanna thank spin down arms for. Uh, helping us raise money for my niece that has cancer. That makes a big, huge statement, Redbone, to what kind of company they are.
Now, they can't do this for everybody I know, but, uh, I appreciate you letting me buy one at a discounted price to help my family out. Jared. You know, that's, that's, that's, Jared, this is a community. It's not, some people look at the, you know, they always say the firearms industry. Or the hunting industry.
And to me, it's always the community. And unfortunately, we can't do it for every single person, but we do our best. You know, we donate guns to local chapters of Pheasant and Quail Forever, to NWTF, to Ducks Unlimited, to Campus Waterfowl. You know, we try and say is yes as much as we can and the more people that shake our hands and, you know, go out and purchase the gun, the more opportunity we have to do that.
But like I said, at the end of the day, it's [00:33:00] always a community and as long as we have that mindset, we're going to continue to be that way. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. So we got a couple of minutes left here, maybe three or four minutes. What is your response? And what is your final words in this show that you want to say to every turkey hunter or anybody that's looking to buy an SDS arm, uh, or a Spandau shotgun?
What do you want to say here in the next three minutes? You know, if I had to say something to every turkey hunter out there, it's, hey guys, you know, I get it that the birds are always going to outsmart us, but the more time you can spend in the field with your friends and family, Get out there and do it.
The more you hunt, the better chances you're going to have. So don't get discouraged on any of it. And, and me being probably one of the okayest hunters on planet earth is my mantra is, you know, Hey, it's, it's better to be out in the woods than to complain about not being out there. And when it comes to SDS arms, you know, we're new to this segment.
We're excited about the segment. You know, if anyone, like I said, if you guys saw any of the shows this [00:34:00] year, whether it was DSC, SCI, NWTF, pheasant, quail forever. You know, we're here to kind of get, get to know you guys better so that we can make our products even better for you guys. So if you are going out in the field this year.
You know, I'll say it this year. There's a spandau for every season, and you know, we would be a part of your next hunt. Man, well said. And again, I want to thank you for your focus on being in the youth. You know, that adds so much to a company, Redbone, to me. Yeah, I would agree. And before we end right here, I would like to address the price points, just briefly, because I know what people are going to say is that, well, Why is that gun only 399.
99? Comparable guns are, you know, 1, 100, 1, 200, 1, 300. And what is your response to somebody that asked that question, Jared? You know, I think that's part of like, you know, a lot of people will turn their noses up at, you know, shotguns that are made in Turkey. But, you know, we have three [00:35:00] engineers that rotate over there throughout, you know, the year.
So we always have someone over there from the U. S., from Knoxville, overseeing production. So if you find that right manufacturing partner, you'll be amazed at what you can do. And, you know, if I hadn't left You know, I'm just not getting a raise this year, guys, like, you know, I'd rather get guns and the shooters, I guess, than, you know, letting you know a truck this year.
Got you. Well, great answer, man. What a great show, Redbone. Yeah, great show. And, uh, and folks, I encourage you to go, just do a search on Google for Spandau, and that's S P A N D A U R M S, A R M S, and, uh, check these things out on their website and take a look. I know there's an order form on there as well.
Now, are you putting these in retailers hands, too? Yeah, we, we, the only ones that we sell direct are to the youth shooters because we have a discount program for youth shooters. Um, so if they're getting with the National Club, we'll make sure that we get them a [00:36:00] gun at a discount. But other than that, yeah, there's a dealer locator on the website.
You can go to any of your local gun shops. We're, we're working on getting into more of the bigger retailers this year. We'll see how that goes, but, you know, reach out to us. We'll find a dealer in your area to kind of help you get the gun that you're looking for. And, you know, hopefully the price point stays where it is.
I don't see us raising prices, but our goal is, is, Hey, if you get a nice standout S2, you got a little extra money to maybe to go get that apex ammunition, or maybe to go get that choke tube from Indian Creek or, you know, so the gun is part of it. But it's it boils down to very cool Alex. Time for us to wrap it up here on the radio show.
Yeah, I want to say this. The dealers that we have in our area right now are, uh, Brawley's Powderhorn, uh, Easy Gun and Ponds talked about becoming a dealer and also Turtles Holes and Guns and Monty's Outdoors. That's the four dealers that I've got interest in that's going to possibly carry these guns here in the [00:37:00] Ozarks.
And again, I want to thank you, Jed. How can people follow you real quick and social media or contact you? Um, you know, our Instagram page is, you know, SDS arms for our parent company, and that'll kind of give you a little bit exposure to all of our other exciting brands. As always, spanned out arms. com. If you guys want to follow along with like one of probably the most okayest firearms page on the internet, you can check me out at okay, a shooter.
And you know, we're always around, so we'll be at NRA. And, you know, you'll be surprised when you see me pop up on the internet sometimes. That's awesome. What a great show and what great content. I'm excited to lay some gobblers down with my new S2 Spandau arm shotgun. 24 inch barrel, absolute butt whooping shotgun.

Spandau Arms presents. Welcome back to American Roots Outdoors. This is our last segment of the show. And we've got Jared Gamaz. Uh, media specialist and liaison for Spandau Arms, SDS Arms. Uh, this guy is a very intelligent guy. Uh, uh, gun, a gun, shotgunner, connoisseur, so to say.
This guy is very knowledgeable. What we want to talk about now, and people love this segment, is talk about recipes. Now, there's many different ways to cook a turkey, and if you don't care, share it. Couple recipes with us and how you prepare, what you do to prepare a meal for friends and etc. Oh, you know, I'll be completely honest.
I don't do a lot of turkey recipe cooking [00:40:00] because those animals are so gosh darn sneaky. So
Um, more often than not, I'm just making tag soup, um, but I will say one of my favorite things, and there's, you know, a lot of people kind of go the traditional route and, you know, wild turkey has its own nuances, but years ago, I don't even remember where I picked this up, but, you know, you take your turkey breasts, or you can even take a lot more of that meat, grind it up a little bit, smoke it, but then I like incorporating it into it, like a nice turkey salad, so, you know, I'll take it.
Chicken salad recipe, and I'll go ahead and throw that turkey meat in there. And you get a nice, you know, buttered piece of bread and wrap that in there. And a nice turkey salad sandwich on a spring afternoon is probably my favorite way to do the turkeys that I'm able to harvest. Wow. Give us another recipe, Redbone.
I know you've got one. I want to give one. Well, you know, I've talked before about the fact that I like to smoke a wild turkey breast. And usually I just do one [00:41:00] half at a time. But low and slow with, you know, whatever your favorite rub might be. And, uh, You know, just serve it just like you would any other turkey breast.
But I saw something over the weekend, Alex, I thought was very interesting. And, uh, I was watching a cooking show, and it's a gentleman out of, uh, South Louisiana, and he said, We don't put no turkey to waste. I mean, they cook the legs and the wings and all of it. And, uh, they cook it low and slow in the smoker.
And then they do exactly what, uh, Jared just said. Because, you know, the turkey legs, sometimes they're tough, and even if you smoke them low and slow, they're still going to have a toughness to them. But they debone those turkey legs and those turkey wings after they get them done, and they make them into a turkey salad.
Uh, you know, same thing, chop it up real fine, uh, add your mayonnaise, mustard, your pickle relish, whatever it is you like in your, in your chicken salad or your turkey salad. And they make a, a nice turkey salad, these sandwiches. One gentleman was even eating them on, uh, uh, the little soft shell tacos. [00:42:00] He was just putting a big spoonful on there and wrapping that thing up and eating a turkey salad taco, which looked fantastic.
You like that, then you just shared. You know, hey, you know, great minds think alike. Well, I've got a recipe for you. You ready? And I've been thinking about this for some time. How many of you have heard of Dots Pretzels? Dots? D O T T S. Dots Pretzels. They're a single little stick. And they've got different flavors.
They've got a regular seasoning. They've got a, a, uh, seasoned, uh, I couldn't remember what they call it. Mustard flavor. And then they've got a regular, uh, southwestern. flavor. We'll take you some dots pretzels. You ready? And put them in a grinder, a food grinder, and grind them up to create a, like a flour based base.
And it's like taking crackers and rolling them up. And what you do is you take, [00:43:00] uh, your, your turkey breast, cut them into strips, and let them marinate, put seasoning on, then let them marinate in buttermilk overnight in the refrigerator. Okay? Then you take Okay. Uh, when they get out the next day, you got all your dots, whatever flavor you prefer.
Uh, you got them all ground up to a powder form, and you roll them in that after that milk, buttermilk, and uh, you create a crust on it. And you can deep fry that, or you can fry it in a skillet with onions and butter. You talk about lip smacking good, it'll make you take back things you never stole. It's gonna be so good.
Yeah, that does sound good. Sounds really good. Well, again, we're going to wrap up the show here. And again, what a great guest. I want to encourage everybody that's listening, uh, again, share the great outdoors with kids, uh, share the God's great creation. And Jared, you've been a great guest and very, very informative.
And [00:44:00] you've educated a lot of our listeners, buddy. You know, I try to do what I can, you know, I, I guess I wish people could, could see the hilarity of the jokes that me and you shared at NWTF. So if you guys see me around, you know, smile a little. Jared and I, he will pull a trick on you. He got me a couple of times.
I'm getting him back. We're supposed to try to get together and turkey hunt and maybe take an outdoor ride or two. We're going to try to get it done. I don't have to talk to Neil about that yet, but Neil, uh, you stood me up. He was on vacation. So we got. Jared to do this show. Hope you listen to this because we're busting your butt over this one.
But Jared's done a great job. And Jared, I'm looking forward to get with you this spring, buddy. And thank you again for this information. Everybody, again, what's the website, Jared? Uh, visit us at sdsarms. com or spandauarms. com to learn everything about You know, hopefully a gun that's going to help you punch that tag.
Well, it's going to punch a lot of [00:45:00] them, I guarantee you. Spandau Arms is going to be a well known shotgun in the turkey world this spring. Again, thank you for listening. Remember, teach your boys to become men and your girls to become ladies. And when your roots run deep and strong There's no reason to fear the wind. (music)
I'll take you to a field Across the creek Up a big old hill Year after year Got my hunting gear And my old pair of hunting boots Passed on down plenty deep in the ground Around your heart So you never gotta worry What the wind might do, American [00:46:00] Roots.
